1950s Glass Table Lighter, Hand Blown Glass, White & Gold, Lighter Made In Japan, Works Great! Stunning & unique heavy glass table lighter, very much an "MCM" vibe with it's bulbous top and skinny stem. The glass features a creamy opaque hue that's highlighted with tiny gold flakes throughout.
I'm not a glass guy so I'm not certain how they were able to achieve the beautiful finish, but it is quite precious. Lighter portion is stamped "JAPAN". Not sure where the glass base was made, possibly American. Being a traditional 'petrol' lighter it's fueled by contemporary lighter fluid and is ignited via a "flint and wick" system.
Lighter section pulls out from the base - there are two screws on the underside: one is for adding more liquid fuel when empty, and the other is for swapping in a new flint when required. MEASUREMENTS: Stands about 5.25" tall. Bottom base is 2-5/8" in diameter. Upper rim is 3.75" across. Quite heavy, it weighs 500 grams (more than a full pound). TESTED, WORKING: We installed a brand new flint; this lighter sparks nicely!
Just fill with modern lighter fluid and it's good to go! Lighter ships "dry" so you'll have to add your own fluid. CONDITION: No chips or cracks, like new.
